About The Decks
For three years, many visitors have appreciated this residence comprising five rooms and two apartments, ideally set out around a wooden pool in luscious vegetation. With no buildings obstructing the panoramic vista of the ocean and Signal Hill, sunset views are breath-taking. The service is friendly and social and guests often bump into friends made on previous vacations.
Guests are mainly from the former colonialist countries of Southern Africa (Holland, England), from Germany and from French-speaking countries (Switzerland, Belgium and France). After only 3 years, around 25% of traveller guests have come back for another stay, especially in summer. The house is decorated in modern Anglo-European style with some maritime architectural detail.
The Decks is halfway between the night-life district and the beaches of Clifton, both destinations a five-minute drive by car. The use of a car is recommended in Cape Town, allowing you to see the magnificent countryside and go on a trip to the beaches or to Cape Point, the Peninsula’s southernmost tip, which is part of a nature reserve.
For those who like progressive dance music, influenced by the London scene, numerous places are worth a visit. The crowd is young, mixed and international, with a good number of models.
Cape cuisine is a mixture of European, Cape Muslim and African influences. Fish and meat are excellent and very affordable and the wines are world-renowned.
A variety of services are offered by The Decks guesthouse. There is an airport shuttle service, tours, bicycle rental, Internet access, English language courses and massages. During high season – from November to February – a cocktail party is organised every Saturday at sunset.
